The BMW Z10 is BMW's latest entry into the high performance sports car market segment. Expected to debut in 2008, the car, roughly the size of a Lamborghini Gallardo, will sport a V10 twin-turbo engine that produces 550+ horsepower. The car will be built primarily of carbon fiber and aluminum—a combination that will yield a power-to-weight ratio of 458 hp (342 kW) per ton. The car will sport variable geometry airfoils to generate downforce at speed. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) is estimated at 3.3 seconds.
The car is expected to retail at approximately USD$280,000.
In a comment following the 2007 Macau Grand Prix on 18 November 2007, BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen mentioned that the Z10's roll out date would be pushed out.
