These are the first official pictures of the ultimate Aston Martin, which will be limited to just 77 cars when it goes on sale late next year. That may sound like a random production number for a supercar but apparently, Aston’s CEO Ulrich Bez has a thing for the number seven. The One-77 will use a hi-tech carbon fibre chassis, which makes the car extremely lightweight but very stiff, and be finished with hand-pressed aluminium panels, making each car incredibly labour intensive. Aston’s traditional front-engine, rear-wheel drivetrain layout will remain, except up front in the One-77 will be a thumping 7.0-litre V12 that produces in excess of 600bhp. Aston rather modestly describes the performance as “exhilarating” so expect a 60mph sprint time of under four seconds and a top speed approaching 220mph. It is Aston’s intention to have each of the 77 owners to be involved in their car’s specific build, like no other supercar manufacturer. Forget about Ferrari measuring up its customers for a seat, this service goes much further. Pretty much anything goes, from working on the ultimate suspension setting with Aston’s engineers, to deciding on the cabin’s seating configuration. Heck, you could probably even make it a convertible if you wanted. Absolutely no expense will be spared in the car’s creation, which is why potential owners/oligarchs will have to cough up nearly £1.2million - that’s £300k more than a Bugatti Veyron! A full-scale working model is to be presented to potential customers by the end of this year, so if there’s anybody out there that’s rich enough to get us into this very exclusive shindig, we’ll bring you all the pics and information then.
