The Acura TL is a mid-size luxury car from Honda's Acura brand. It was introduced in 1996 to supplant the Acura Vigor and was rebadged for the Japanese-market from 1996 to 2000 as the Honda Inspire and from 1996 to 2004 as the Honda Saber. The TL is Acura's best-selling model, and it is the second best-selling luxury sedan in the United States behind the BMW 3-Series.

Acura redesigned the TL for 2009, with a design based on the 2008 Honda Accord platform. The base TL model and up-level SH-AWD versions will arrive in dealerships in late 2008. The SH-AWD version will NOT receive the Type-S designation. Acura is expected to release a Type-S version in 2011, in keeping with their previous behavior of releasing a Type-S version of the 3G TL in 2007, about 2.5 years after the introduction of the 3G TL in 2004.

The base 2009 TL sedan will have a 3.5-liter V6, same as the current TL Type-S, and will have 286 Horsepower. While the SH-AWD model will carry the 3.7-liter V6 from the MDX.
